YOU, THE END USER, SHALL USE THIS SOFTWARE("THE SOFTWARE") ACCORDING TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT.
BY LOADING THE SOFTWARE INTO ANY COMPUTER, YOU ARE AGREEING TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, YOU MAY NOT LOAD THIS SOFTWARE INTO ANY COMPUTER.
Grant of License
The Software is licensed for use by you for the equipment packaged with the Software or designated by its supplier ("the equipment"). You are permitted to use the Software on any computer which permits electronic access to the equipment. You are not permitted to rent or lease the Software or to transfer your rights under this license to a third party.
Acceptance
You shall be deemed to have accepted the terms of this Agreement by loading the Software into any computer.
Duration
This license is effective until terminated. The license will terminate where you fail to comply with the terms of this Agreement. Upon termination, you agree to destroy all copies of the Software and its documentation.
Ownership of Software
You own, if any, only the magnetic media on which the Software has been delivered. It is an express condition of this Agreement that the title and ownership of the Software shall be retained by its owners.
Copying
The Software and its documentation are the subject of Copyright.
You may not make any copies nor cause others to make copies of the Software except such copies as are necessary for licensed use and one copy for operational security. Any such copies are subject to the conditions of this Agreement.
You may not modify, adapt, merge, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or create derivative works based on the whole or any part of the Software or its associated documentation.
You may be held legally responsible for any copyright infringement, unauthorized transfer, reproduction or use of the Software or its documentation.
Limitation of Warranty
The media, if any, not the Software contained therein, is warranted to the original purchaser against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of original purchase. Defective media will be replaced when it is returned to your supplier, postage prepaid, along with a copy of the purchase receipt.
THESE RIGHTS ARE YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY, WHETHER IN TORT, CONTRACT, OR OTHERWISE. IN NO EVENT SHALL SUPPLIER, OWNER OF THE SOFTWARE OR ITS LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR DAMAGES (INCLUDING ANY FOR LOSS OF INFORMATION, PROFITS, SAVINGS OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR OTHER DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES) ARISING OUT OF THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE THEREOF, OR THE INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.
Exporting Law
You acknowledge that the export of the Software is governed by the export control laws of the United States and other countries. You agree to comply with all such export control laws.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
If any provision or portion of this Agreement shall be found to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of California, USA and is subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal District courts for the Central District of California by a judge and not a jury.

- WIA function is disabled by default on Windows Server2003/Server2008/Server2012.
- We cannot guarantee proper operation of Terminal Server Edition and Terminal Service.
- Itanium-based systems (Windows 64-bit Edition) are not supported.
- In accordance with the connection environment to the customer's PC, we provide the following drivers.
In the case of using scanner via USB connection
WIA scanner driver
TWAIN Scanner driver
- Please use x64 WIA driver on Windows x64 Operating Systems.
Two drivers of TWAIN and WIA are installed on Windows x64 Operating
Systems via USB connection.
In the case of using scanner via Network connection
TWAIN Scanner driver
- TWAIN Scanner driver is a 32-bit driver. It is possible to install it
on Windows x64 Operating Systems, however, it cannot be used with a
64-bit application.
It might operate well with a 32-bit application on Windows x64 Operating
Systems, however, proper operation of all the functions is not guaranteed.
When you cannot install the Driver from a "driver & utility CD" on the OS of
Windows 7/8/Server2008 R2/Server2012, Please install by "(1)-2 Installation steps for
Windows XP/Server2003/Server2008/Vista/7/8/Server2008 R2/Server2012 driver for Windows x64 Operating Systems."

Be sure to close all applications before install the driver.
If you are installing this product at the first time, please follow these steps;
Following procedure installs TWAIN Driver and Printer Driver at once.
Note: This procedure requires administrator privileges (admin account or "Run as Administrator").
- Step 1. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM Drive.
- Step 2. A program starts automatically.
- Step 3. Please select the language used in your PC first and click the "next".
- Step 4. Select a button according to your desired connection form.
If you use a USB connection, click USB Quick Install.
If you use a network, click Network Quick Install.
- Step 5. Please follow the instructions on the screen.
(1)-2 Installation steps for Windows XP/Server2003/Server2008/Vista/7/8/Server2008
R2/Server2012 driver for Windows x64 Operating Systems.
(When you cannot install the driver from a "driver & utility CD" on the OS of
Windows 7/8/Server2008 R2/Server2012, Please install by following procedure.)
Be sure to close all applications before install the driver.
If you are installing this product at the first time, please follow

- Step 1. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM Drive.
- Step 2. A program starts automatically.
- Step 3. Please select the language used in your PC first and click the "next".
- Step 4. Operations are different depending on the desired connection form.
In the case of Network connection
If you use a network connection, click "Browse this CD-ROM" and contents are shown in a window. Please perform "Setup.exe" that exists in
"(CD-ROM Drive's name):\DRIVERS\TWAIN\NETWORK" folder.
Please follow the instructions on the screen.
TWAIN Scanner driver is a 32-bit driver. It is possible to install it on
Windows x64 Operating Systems, however, it cannot be used with a 64-bit
application.
It might operate well with a 32-bit application on Windows x64 Operating
Systems, however, proper operation of all the functions is not guaranteed.
In the case of USB connection
If you use a USB connection, click "Browse this CD-ROM" and contents are shown in a window. Please perform "Setup.exe" that exists in
"(CD-ROM Drive's name):\DRIVERS\TWAIN\USB" folder.
Please follow the instructions on the screen.
When "Setup.exe" procedure is done, please connect your PC to a machine with
USB cable, and turn ON the power of the machine. When the power is already
turned ON, please connect a USB cable after turning it OFF. Then, turn it ON
again.
At this time, if the automatic installation (Plug and Play) of OS starts,
please appoint the"(CD-ROM Drive's name):\DRIVERS\TWAIN\USB" folder and install it.
You are required to have completed the installation from CD.
If you are downloading an updated driver from our web site and performing
installation;
Be sure to close all applications before upgrading the driver.
Note: This procedure requires administrator privileges (admin account or "Run as Administrator").
In the case of Network connection
- Step 1. Download the updated driver from our web site.
- Step 2. Extract the downloaded file to any folders. The Downloaded file is compressed with a tool.
- Step 3. There is a Setup.exe in the "NETWORK" folder.
Please run this Setup.exe program. And please follow the instructions.
In the case of USB connection
- Step 1. Download the updated driver from our web site.
- Step 2. Extract the downloaded file to any folders. The Downloaded file is
compressed with a tool. You can see the [USB] folder and [Network] folder in
the extracted folder.
- Step 3. Please perform closing the applications certainly. We recommend you to be
certainly performed by re-starting of PC etc.
- Step 4. Please remove a USB cable from PC. At this time, ON is still sufficient
as the power supply of a machine.
- Step 5. Please perform previous "Setup.exe".
Updating installation is performed automatically.
- Step 6. Please confirm that the power supply of a machine is ON and connect a USB
cable to PC.
At this time, when automatic installation (Plug and Play) of OS starts, please appoint the folder which you downloaded.
- Step 7. Please re-start PC after the completion of updating installation.
Please delete the driver from "Add or Remove Programs"(*) leaving the power
of the machine ON.
* "Add or Remove Programs"(**) can start from control panel.
** The name is different from OS.

- With TWAIN/WIA driver, the drivers of different versions can't be used
together.
- If TWAIN/WIA driver's screen doesn't look normal after installation,
uninstall the driver and reinstall the driver.
- Do not extract CD-ROM before the installation is finished. Or else,
system error might occur.
- During installation of the driver, End User License Agreement might appear
in English. In this case, please confirm it in English.
- During loading with TWAIN scanner driver, when the scan is performed on one
or more ranges (Multiple crop areas sets), if it is canceled, the following
operation might not be performed correctly. In that case, close the driver
once, then restart it.
- The preview screen image infrequently might be distorted.
Although it does not affect the scanning, we recommend that you not use
preview in that case.
- In the WIA driver, the feeder scan from "Automatic Document Feeder" might
not run normally. In that case, please scan from "Reflective".
- The WIA function is disabled by default on Windows Server2003/Server2008/Server2012.
When you use the WIA scanner driver, please perform the following operations
and enable the setting.
eg:Server2003
1. [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Administrative Tools] - Open [Services]
2. Open Properties of "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)h.
3. Set [Startup type] to "Automatic" and click the [Apply] button
4. Click the [Start] button
eg:Server2008
The following procedures are necessary in order to start WIA by Server 2008.
Procedure 1. Installation of Desktop Experience.
Procedure 2. WIA is set as "automatic" to a "start" from service.
In addition, since it is explained by the WEB site of Microsoft, please refer
to the addition of Desktop Experience.
- With TWAIN driver, when scanning two or more pages in ADF, depending on
application, it may be unable to scan correctly.
- During loading with TWAIN scanner driver, when the scan is performed on Multiple
crop areas sets, scanning operation might not be performed correctly at some
applications. In that case, set the one crop area set, then restart it.
- There is a case where a dialog, an error message, etc. of a driver are displayed
behind application, and it becomes impossible to operate it.
In such a case, let the driver's UI choice by using "taskbar".
Or let it display in the front using the Key "Alt+TAB" or "Alt+ESC".
Please let it display and operate it.
- When scanning, [Cancel] button on the dialog sometimes does not work. In this
case, press the [Cancel] button a few times, and then you can abort the
scanning.
- When the driver dialog is displayed, press [Exit] button and close the
driver, before closing the application.
- Windows Terminal Service is not supported.
- If PC was not performed re-starting on the screen to which re-start is urged,
please re-start using [Start]-[ShutDown] buttton.
- When scanning, a timeout occurs, and scanning may not be done correctly.
It becomes a cause that this has too large data size.
In this case, please scan by lowering scanning size or resolution.
- When you first install this product, IP address of the network TWAIN driver is automatically set.
If you want to change IP address of the network TWAIN driver, please change IP address from UI of the TWAIN driver.
